The importance of packaging

Our quest to reduce the use of plastic.

We all love luxurious packaging, but at what environmental cost? The composition and origin of the materials used in packaging & postal bags has always been something at the forefront of Zaphir’s ethos whenever designing new products, which is why we have spent significant time and resources to source only plastic free boxes, bags and envelopes for all of our products.

Our boxes are made from water-based glue and FSC certified paper & cardboard, of which 15% has been replaced with recycled waste material from the corn industry. They are sourced in Denmark rather than China to reduce transport emissions. FSC stands for ‘Forest Stewardship Council’ and this mark guarantees that the materials originated from a sustainably managed FSC forest, where only the amount of wood that the forest can reproduce is harvested. This allows a better balance for plant and animal life, and as part of the FSC requirement all foresters are appropriately trained, utilise appropriate safety equipment and are paid a decent wage.

We are also proud to say we use “the Worlds Most Environmentally Friendly Padded Bag” from Enviroflute to post out our items. These are plastic-free, biodegradable, recyclable and space-saving, while being padded to ensure your pieces arrive in perfect condition.
